Πρόσφατα πραγματοποιήθηκε η επίσκεψη μαθητών και καθηγητών του σχολείου μας στην Κατάνη της Σικελίας στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Erasmus+ Young Europeans Speak Up!! που υλοποιείται χάρη στη συγχρηματοδότηση της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης με την επίβλεψη και υποστήριξη του ΙΚΥ.

Ο Παναγιώτης Στάικος, η Κατερίνα και η Χριστίνα Εμβαλωμένου, η Βασιλική Εξάρχου και η Δέσποινα Λεβέντη συμμετείχαν στην μαθητική αυτή ανταλλαγή που διήρκεσε μία εβδομάδα (22-27 Μαρτίου 2022). Φιλοξενήθηκαν από Ιταλούς συμμαθητές που είχαν φιλοξενηθεί από οικογένειες μαθητών μας κατά την επίσκεψή τους στην Ελλάδα τον Φεβρουάριο 2022.

Στην ανταλλαγή συμμετείχαν τρία ακόμη Ευρωπαϊκά σχολεία, το Sandnes Videregaende Skole (Νορβηγία), το Regionale Scholengemeenschap ‘t Rijks (Ολλανδία) και το σχολείο που μας φιλοξένησε Liceo Scientifico Statale Galileo Galilei.

Το θέμα της μαθητικής ανταλλαγής ήταν η οργάνωση μίας εκστρατείας για την προώθηση μίας σημαντικής πρωτοβουλίας στο σχολείο. Η ομάδα του σχολείου μας με την επίβλεψη της κ. Φ.Λαγωνίκα (Βιολόγου) και της κ. Ε.Δοδοπούλου (Φιλολόγου, υποδιευθύντριας και υπεύθυνης Ευρωπαϊκών προγραμμάτων), προετοίμασε μία παρουσίαση των Δράσεων Υγείας του Α΄Αρσακείου Τοσιτσείου Λυκείου Εκάλης.

Παρουσιάστηκαν οι δράσεις που κάνει το Α’ Λύκειο για την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος (The Garment Project, μία πρωτοποριακή ιδέα της κ. Ε. Φραγκουλοπούλου και του κ. Μ. Σαρρή για αποφυγή του υπερκαταναλωτισμού στα ρούχα), την προώθηση των εμβολιασμών, τη διάκριση της επιστήμης από την ψευδοεπιστήμη, την αποφυγή εθισμών (όπως την εξάρτηση από τα κινητά με το σχέδιο της κ. Α. Μαλάμου και του Α2 Against the mobile phones addiction), την εθελοντική αιμοδοσία (σε συνεργασία με την καθηγήτρια Ιατρικής κ. Μαριάννα Πολίτου), την προστασία της ψυχικής υγείας και την καταπολέμηση του σχολικού εκφοβισμού.

Στο πλαίσιο της επίσκεψης οι μαθητές και οι καθηγητές παρακολούθησαν παρουσιάσεις των εργασιών όλων των ομάδων, ομιλία για την κατασκευή ινών από πορτοκάλια (από την ιδρύτρια της εταιρείας OrangeFiber) και εργαστήριο marketing και χρήσης αντίστοιχων ψηφιακών εργαλείων.  Επισκέφθηκαν την Έτνα και την Ταορμίνα, δοκίμασαν την παραδοσιακή κουζίνα της περιοχής, φωτογράφισαν σκηνές της Κατάνης για το διαγωνισμό φωτογραφίας όπου η Χριστίνα και ο Παναγιώτης πήραν δεύτερο και τρίτο βραβείο  και, προπαντός, δέθηκαν με στενούς δεσμούς φιλίας σε μία μεγάλη ομάδα που έμεινε αχώριστη και χαμογελαστή από την πρώτη ως την τελευταία στιγμή, όταν υποσχέθηκαν ότι θα ξαναϊδωθούν –Θεού θέλοντος- το καλοκαίρι, με δική τους πια πρωτοβουλία. Πολλά συγχαρητήρια αξίζουν στα παιδιά μας για την εργατικότητα και το ήθος τους! Και πολλές ευχαριστίες επίσης στους γονείς τους για την άριστη συνεργασία με το σχολείο!

OUR EXPERIENCE IN CATANIA IN MARCH 2022

Academic presentations and cultural visits

In March 2022, we had the chance to participate in Erasmus+ project Young Europeans Speak Up!! and visit Catania in Sicily. In the context of this Erasmus+ program, teams of students from all partner schools showcased their research on how to promote a cause bigger than themselves in their school communities. Through these presentations, we came in touch with new ideas and different ways of action recommended by other students.

We also worked together in transnational groups in workshops of marketing and digital applications, danced, played, visited ancient and modern sites, participated in cultural visits!  This experience offered a great opportunity to find and adopt new ideas by expanding our knowledge to different topics while it made us realize that the problems that we face in our country are international. We better now understood that there is only one solution to the crisis: to work together, be concerned and open-minded!

As for the cultural visits, they really helped too. With our visits to mountain Etna, Taormina and the city of Catania we got to know the history of Italy, the country’s culture and all the special characteristics of its people. We went sightseeing and tasted all their delicious dishes while still having fun!

Friendship through Erasmus+

Through this special experience we were able to meet new people and become friends with them. It was not an easy thing to do as we were complete strangers. During the pandemic we fell out of the habit of making new friends but this project gave us the opportunity to be friends with the whole group. We learned about the others’ habits and we saw their point of view on life. All of us were able to create a strong bond with each other, which will never end as we are determined to keep this friendship alive. We are now a big family filled with love and will definitely see each other again.

The EU contribution to education and youth

Erasmus is an international program which takes place in Europe so the  existence of this program would not be possible  without the contribution of the European Union. The Erasmus program requires not only  complete organization and personal effort from teachers , but also a financial support that is currently able to be provided only by the EU. This financial opportunity provided by the European Union facilitates practical issues that are of prior importance. It provides for travel, individual support and organizational costs, communication between schools, even arrangements for covid hotels in case of need.  Through this assistance, relations between young people and states are intensified , students and teachers feel secure and last but not least the intercultural dialogue is strengthened.
